SoPHIA and the European Museums Academy discuss on Cultural Heritage impact assessment with the Pascal International Observatory

An open discussion between members of the PASCAL International Observatory, the European Museums Academy (EMA) and SoPHIA took place last March 3, 2021. The aim was, on the one hand, to present the SoPHIA draft cultural heritage impact assessment model, illustrating its application through selected case studies, and, on the other, to explore possible modalities to bring the model to the attention of local governments - cities and regions – members of the PASCAL Learning Cities’ Network “Harnessing Museums, Heritage and Education”.

A further meeting will soon be scheduled to structure the conversation with selected local governments from Europe and beyond with the aim of advocating for the need to carry out systematic cultural heritage impact assessments and to bridge the existing gap between research, practice and policy-making.
